  1. […] shampoo. It’s probably stripping the color rather than saving it. You should be using a color care shampoo. I know you said that this happens at the first wash, so the shampoo may not make a difference […]

I am naturally a light brunette and have recently gone a few shades darker. I made the mistake of not consulting this article and bought biolage shampoo and conditioner for color treated hair because I’ve often heard it recommended. What do you think about it? Will it help prevent the color from fading or the hair from drying out? Or was it a total mistake to buy it?

I like Biolage shampoo and conditioner, I even have some in my shower right now.

It’s not on the list for a few reasons:
      1. There are so many products out there, so even some awesome shampoos won’t be listed on my comparison charts.
      2. The Biolage color care shampoo and conditioner is often too heavy for a lot of hair types. I try to recommend products that work for most people, so something heavy may be found on a different chart.
      3. For preserving color, if that is MOST important to you, Biolage is not the top product from my experience. However, it is much better than using drug store stuff (that will make your color fade faster). It’s also better than not using color care products at all. I usually buy more shampoo when I’m halfway down a bottle, so I mix them throughout the week anyways. If you don’t like it just grab something else to try, but you can use them both!
