Hair-Color-At-Sally's-BeautyAre you hoping to find the perfect shade of hair color at Sally’s Beauty Supply?

Well, it may be possible, but don’t get your hopes up!

Remember- just because a product is available to the public doesn’t mean that it’s fool proof. You should still have some knowledge of hair color chemistry as well as the laws of color before you attempt to color your own hair.

I’m not saying this to “scare” you(as some people have commented)…I want to make sure you know what you’re getting into so you can avoid a hair color disaster!

Hair Color At Sally’s Beauty Supply

Here’s a great Q&A from a reader about choosing the right hair color formula on your own:

Hi,
I have been coloring my friends hair using the Matrix 505N color.

It’s pretty much dark brown when its done.

She has gray hair and very stubborn to accept the coloring.

The box colors from the store do not work at all. The matrix works but it is hard to get since I do not have a license to go and purchase it.

Is there a similar, but safe product in Sally’s Beauty Supply that I can use for her and what would the formula be for her gray hair to get the dark brown look?

Thank you.

Sabina 🙂

Hi Sabina!

I’m on vacation so I’m going to give you a quick option and e-mail more later! First of all, be careful when shopping for hair color at Sally’s Beauty Supply. Sometimes the store clerks will give you “advice” about hair color products and most of them don’t know what they’re talking about. It’s always best to do your own research so you can make the best decision(if you’re going to do your hair color at home).

Usually double n’s (NN) series are the best for gray. The only thing is they will show up much more neutral than you may want.

The other option is to choose an “N” series if the “NN’s” are too cool or just not fun enough! For a more rich option you would need to mix a gold with a neutral to get it to take and cover the grays better.

From Sally’s Beauty Supply the Wella line is better than the L’Oreal or other brands. Good luck!
