Best Waterproof Makeup

Waterproof makeup is hard to find, and that’s probably because there’s no reason why anyone should be wearing makeup to the pool or beach.

There are a lot more options these days, but some of them are pricey!

I suggest using waterproof makeup only when you really need it, and your usual makeup products for everyday wear. Waterproof eye makeup is an exception that I think is great for daily use…especially if you experience regular smudging!

There are plenty of other reasons you’ll need it, so here are some of the best waterproof makeup products that I’ve tried!

Great Lash Waterproof Mascara by Maybelline

Great Lash was the first mascara that I ever used…probably because it’s my moms favorite!

I’ve never seen her use anything else, and she’s told me that she has no desire to try another mascara.

It’s affordable, it doesn’t clump, and her eyelashes always look fabulous!

If you use waterproof mascara…

You definitely need to have makeup remover towelettes or a good eye makeup remover and cotton rounds handy. It will not come off easily with water, and will probably make a huge mess around your eyes without something to properly remove it!

Julep has more than just nail polish! I got hooked on their makeup after becoming a Julep Maven.

‘Round the Clock Intense Cream Glide Eyeliner by Bare Minerals

I’ve been using Bare Minerals for about 7 years. They no longer carry my favorite shade of eyeliner(Charbronze), so when I asked about it at the outlet the store associate gave me a complimentary waterproof eyeliner to try! She considered it my “birthday” gift because I hadn’t been in the store since October(so if you go in mention your birthday).

I switch it up with eyeliners from day-to-day, so I used this several times before I realized that it’s waterproof. It always looks great and it doesn’t budge so I just didn’t think about it.

*It’s suggested that you sharpen this eyeliner before each use. Don’t let your eyeliner get worn down too far…it won’t be easy to apply. Also, waiting to sharpen your eyeliner will make it harder when you do sharpen(sometimes breaks off before getting a decent tip again).

Posie Tint by Benefit Cosmetics

A poppy-pink stain that’s great for brightening cheeks and lips! This liquid-gel formula is great for blending on all complexions and lasts for hours!

Posie Tint isn’t something that I would normally buy. I’ve never been a big fan of stains(only some lip stains), but if you’re going for waterproof then this product is perfect.

I bought a benefit kit at Ulta before a wedding and it included Posie Tint…rather than let it go to waste I figured I might as well try it!

The color goes well with just about any look, and the best part about it is that you can use it for cheeks and lips. I use it on my lips even if I’m wearing a favorite gloss or chapstick because it gives your lips a nice underlying color with just enough brightness to make them pop!

Eyeshadow Primer Pot by Stila

No matter how skilled you are with a blending brush, eyeshadow has the tendency to go slip-sliding during the day — or worse yet, to become more creased than a pair of Dockers.

This waterproof primer solves both of those problems and then some, and it comes in two flattering neutral shades. Bonus: you can wear it solo to get a wide-awake look.

A lot of people don’t use primer, but once you do you’ll never go back! Eyelid primer is the only way to keep your eyeshadow in place. If you have “oily” eyelids then you probably struggle even more with keeping your eyeshadow in check, so this is a great option even if you’re not going to the beach.

*Remember, eyeshadow isn’t really meant to be worn when you go swimming underwater or sweat excessively. Eyeshadow primer will keep everything in place for the most part, but if you’re getting really wet then results may vary!
