Just stumbled upon your blog, it’s informative! however some thoughts on ulta. I went to ulta for years and my stylist also became my friend. she told me about how the stylists are told to push product. I understand upselling but one day a client was in my friend’s chair, and the salon at least in this particular store, is an open section surrounded by the retail floor. a retail customer started asking my friend, as she was styling her client, about shampoo for her hair type. like a million questions and it got to the point the client started arguing with the customer, and i feel the client is totally in the right to be mad. the salon in the ulta i went to used to be totally separate and private from the retail section. it was remodeled to be an island of chairs in the middle of the store and customers tend to stand and gawk, um super uncomfortable. Also when the stylists “graduate” tiers like junior, pro, master stylist, their prices go up accordingly. i could no longer afford her services.
