5 Tips to Improve Your Hair

 

1. Treat your hair with essential oils

Something that your hair will certainly benefit from is treating it with essential oils. There are so many to choose from…like lavender, rosemary and peppermint, all of which can give your hair the healthy boost it needs. Another great option is using tea tree oil for hair. This amazing oil contains antibacterial and anti-fungal properties that’ll help soothe your scalp and fight dandruff as well as other pesky conditions.

In addition to dry scalp protection, using tea tree oil for your hair can also promote hair growth and help unblock pores. All you have to do is combine it with a carrier oil like coconut…massage into your scalp and let it work for about 15 minutes. Make sure to rinse thoroughly when done and your hair will reap the rewards!

2. Avoid over washing

Cleanliness is vital for healthy hair, but you really can overdo it. If you wash your hair with shampoo too often you can actually cause it to lose its luster. That’s because over washing can strip your hair of its natural oils and leave it looking a little limp.

Try to stick to washing your hair no more than three times a week, and if you need to clean it on other days you can always use dry shampoo(check out my post for tips: Dry Shampoo – What Works?!).

 

3. Keep things cool

The more you can avoid heat, the better – overheating your hair can lead to it to becoming overly stressed and even a little brittle.

No one expects you to throw away your heated styling tools or hairdryer though, just use them sparingly and turn the temperature down when you do. A great way of avoiding excessive heat is leaving your hair to air dry, or patting it dry with a towel.

If you’ve got time to let it dry naturally that’s certainly the best way!

 

4. Eat a well-balanced diet

The better you eat, the better your hair is going to look!

Just like your skin, your hair also benefits from a variety of nutrients, so getting plenty of goodness into your diet can certainly improve the quality of your locks.

What type of foods should you be getting into your diet?

The following foods could help more than just your hair:

• Eggs
• Nuts and seeds
• Spinach and other leafy greens
• Oily fish like tuna and mackerel
• Avocados
• Sweet potatoes
• Berries

In addition to eating nutrient-dense foods, it’s important to stay hydrated by drinking plenty of water too.

5. Visit the salon

The key aspect, in terms of hair health, when visiting your salon is the chance to get rid of weakened and split ends. In turn, that helps your hair regenerate and brings life back to it.
